Hinges connect the door to the kitchen cabinet. They should be strong and durable as they are used repeatedly in the kitchen, day in, day out. Both Blum and Hettich hinges have a reputation for top quality and construction and while Blum is the brand we supply the most often with our doors, when Blum is not available, we supply Hettich hinges.
While standard sized kitchen doors will require 2 hinges, pantry doors will generally require 5 hinges per full height door. For corner doors, a combination of corner door and bi-fold hinges are available. This type of hinge is not visible when the doors are closed, as opposed to the old fashioned piano hinge. Blum and Hettich hinges will keep your kitchen doors moving effortlessly and reliably for many years.
Soft closing hinges – for safe and silent doors
New Hinges
Blumotion or Hettich soft closing hinges allow your doors to close silently and in a controlled way. Acting like brakes, they are a great safety feature, protecting big and little fingers and a small investment at just $9.24 each. Standard hinges are $8.58 each.
Reusing or Buying your own Hinges
Another advantage of purchasing new hinges from us, is that you don’t need to advise us of the hinge hole positions.
If you are reusing your existing hinges or supplying your own, we can drill for Blum or Hettich brands only and you must advise us whether you require a one or 3 hole pattern.
The diameter of the central or single hinge hole is 35mm. You will need to measure from the top and bottom of the doors to the centre of the hinge holes and advise us of the positions on our Quote/Order Form. Additional measurements will be required for pantry doors.
The position from the edge of the door to the hinge hole is standard and may not be varied. Drilling for hinges in kitchen doors is $12.00 per door and $24.00 per pantry door.
